Crack-Stix® 225ft. SMALL 1/4″ GRAY Permanent Concrete Crack Filler

After a successful launch of our 1/2″ we heard from a lot of contractors that they need a smaller 1/4″ version so here it is!! Introducing the NEW Crack-Stix® 225ft  SMALL 1/4″ (68.5M of 6.35mm) GRAY Permanent Concrete Crack Filler! This product, like it’s black version Crack-Stix® that has been available since 1999, is the same, hot applied, patented, permanent joint and crack filler…but now it’s in GRAY for concrete! After many requests for gray to fill concrete or faded blacktop…here it is and you don’t need a 200 gallon melter to apply it!

  • For Joints & Cracks 1/4″ – 1/2″ (6.35-12.7mm) in diameter…you can even stretch to fill a 1/8” (3.17mm) crack or joint!

  • Paintable: With either: Latex paint, masonry waterproofing paint or 2 component high solids epoxy

  • Save time and purchase either our CSX-900 Cane Torch extender our really speed up application with our NEW walk behind CSX-1000 PRO MELT TORCH!
  • TIP: If you are not using our recommended torch and are using just a handheld torch it can be difficult to keep the torch upright (or it may flame out)…so you may want to find BURNER WAND which will keep the flame running!
  • For deep cracks or joints, before you begin fill the crack using backer rod, sand or stone dust but leave enough room for product.
  • You can use a larger 20lb propane tank to apply but you will need an attachment

Crack-Stix® in SMALL is furnished as a gray solid “rope” in 1/4” thickness. It is an elastomeric, self-leveling sealant, which liquefies quickly and can be used in concrete and asphalt pavements. When properly applied, it combines tenacious adhesive power with extraordinary resiliency to protect against the infiltration of moisture or incompressibles through repeated thermal cycles of expansion and contraction.

Crack-Stix® 225ft  SMALL 1/4″ (68.5M of 6.35mm) GRAY Permanent Concrete Crack Filler exhibits superior low temperature ductility, weather resistance, low oxidation breakdown and is non-tracking. It is the only sealant available which is designed to be inserted into the crack or joint cavity first and then melted with direct heat process. The patented modifier system contained in Crack-Stix® allows the material to withstand direct heat without experiencing degradation.

HOW TO VIDEO
APPLICATION

Clean it... Take a screwdriver & scratch out all debris from inside the crack or joint, then sweep it clean with a whisk broom. Crack must be dry.

gc4_0_0

Pack it... uncoil & cut the appropriate size stix & shape/pack into crack with fingertip pressure. Using the screwdriver, press the stix into the crack or joint approximately 1/16" to 1/8" below actual pavement surface level. To achieve a neat overall appearance, do not overfill crack. The material seals In It...Not On It. (*Note: If the crack is not as wide as the as the 1/4" Crack-Stix®, we recommend stretching the Crack-Stix® out...you can leave it in the sun for a while to make it easier to stretch. You can also splice it with a razor blade. You can also use a rubber mallet to help form the strip for the pavement cracks & also helped in the "wedging in" effort). If you have VERY narrow crack you may have to heat a knife with your torch so that it splices the Stix like a butter knife! If the crack is larger than 1/2" you can double over the Crack-Stix® to fill the joint or crack. For deep joints you can first fill it with a backer rod or sand …but leave 1/4" or so from surface.

Melt it...NOTICE! For concrete pavement repairs, follow these instructions: Portland cement (‘concrete’) can contain trapped moisture, which can cause "popping or spalling" when heated. To minimize this condition, dry concrete prior to applying Crack-Stix®.Pre-warm the concrete surface by moving the torch flame back and forth approximately 12" from the surface, until concrete is completely dry (about 30- 40 seconds). Do NOT overheat concrete or asphalt pavement adjacent to crack or joint to be repaired. Excessive heat can cause discoloring and may break down pavement composition. It is best to heat for a short period of time per instructions to prevent excessive heating to adjacent surfaces. Note: To save time you can hook up your torch to a propane tank using a Propane Hose assembly kit. A torch is recommended versus a heat gun but you CAN use a heat gun if your prefer: We recommend an industrial heat gun and temperature must be a minimum of 250 degrees F for it to melt.

Melt-it: Once the Crack-Stix® are packed into the crack or joint, light the propane torch, adjust the flame until the total flame is 3-4” long and the blue tip is approximately 1” long. Follow manufacturer’s instructions when using torch. Hold the flame at a 45 degree angle 3” from the Crack-Stix® and begin heating by moving the flame back and forth,in a slow, even motion (DO NOT HOLD FLAME IN ONE PLACE OVER Crack-Stix® – KEEP MOVING BACK AND FORTH). Heat approximately 1’ (one foot) at a time. The “melt-away” plastic wrapper will burn off Crack-Stix® will start to immediately liquefy. Continue heating for approximately 1-2 minutes (the type and size torch, along with wind and temperature conditions, will effect melting time). If not completely melted, Crack-Stix® can be reheated to complete seal at anytime. Move on to other cracks or joints until job is completed.

Don't forget the Torch Extender!

Crack-Stix® is traffic-ready in approximately 20 minutes.

>>> Reminder:  The plastic wrapper does not need to be taken off/removed - it melts away! <<<

STORAGE RECOMMENDATION: Crack-Stix® has an excellent shelf life…keep in a dry cool place, between 35-70 degrees.

NOTE: Crack-Stix® can be reliquefied at any future time if necessary. To re-bond or reseal the sealant to the sidewalls follow the original Crack-Stix® instructions.

CAUTION: Liquefied crack filler is extremely HOT and will burn…DO NOT TOUCH until completely cooled, 10-15 minutes. While it is cooling, youcan continue with your repairs to other cracks/joints. Once filling/sealing and cooling are completed, check your work. If you did not apply enough sealant, or used the wrong size, correct by adding more Crack-Stix®

TESTIMONIALS

Love this Stuff! After cleaning the cracks I used a butane torch and applied the material in a way similar to soldering. The repair material spread easily as I rotated the burner flame around the crack and the repair rope. Bonding is excellent and should last for many years and is well worth it.

Love this product! Great product! Seals deep within the crack. The fact that it melts before it cures means it seeps into fissures and does a much better job at keeping the moisture out of the asphalt than cold-pressed patch.

It works! This is a unique product. My husband applied it to the cracks in our driveway. It was a bit time consuming, because we have a huge circle driveway with a lot of cracks, but it's not difficult. I believe he liked using the flat edge of a screwdriver to push the product in the cracks before torching them. He then used a sealer sold by Latexite. The driveway looks great and I think will hold up better than the professional jobs for which we have always paid well over $1,000. Lastly, he also used the concrete stix sold by the same manufacturer and those worked, as promised, too.

Finally an excellent asphalt Crack Repair! My driveway is ten year old and significant cracks developed. I filled them with this product a year ago and they have remained sealed. I purchased more of the product and will apply it to the smaller cracks. Applying the material requires patience. After I applied this product I applied their Optimum sealer to the whole driveway and it is impossible to see where the big cracks were that I filled. I am very pleased with it's sealing strength.

Great product! The same stuff a local company used to seal cracks in my driveway. He did a poor job and I needed this stuff to complete his job. Blended very nice with theirs so I recommend this product. If you have a large area I would first get it done by the pros and thereafter use this product to fill in or make repairs. Otherwise great for small to medium repairs.
